THE DRAWING POWER OF CHRIST

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. John 12:32.

All that is attractive in grace and personality, or beautiful in character, belong to Christ. He is the "chiefest among ten thousand." He is the Shepherd of the flock, the King of kings, the Husband of the bride, the Morning Star. He is the stream of living water flowing from the smitten rock. He is the Rose of Sharon sending forth its fragrance. He is the Sun of Righteousness rising with healing in His wings. He is the Living Bread we eat. He is the coming of the dawn. He is the essence of everlasting love.

To behold Christ, to exalt Him in our lives, means that we give Him His rightful place. We have accepted an inclusive devotion to Him that lifts us out of our selfishness and our sins. When Christ enters, with Him come in pure thoughts, high desires, true love, an irresistible charm of character.

It is up to us to direct our gaze To this end we have become followers of Christ. Here is where the life line should he drawn. Christ our Righteousness and His character are essential to our very life. We belong to Him. We cannot do without Him. By the power of the Holy Spirit we are to prevent the appeals and fascinations of the world from displacing our ideals of Christ. We are to hold fast our faith and life direction.

The bravest battles that ever are fought are fought not with hands or with guns, but with a mind and a spirit that are continually being renewed by Christ. Who is to keep the image of Christ from flickering and waning under the stress of temptation and worldly pressures? Who is to keep our Christian characters shining in the darkness, .singing in the night, unflinching in the face of error and falsehood? The answer is found in having our minds and hearts continually open to our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is the Rock under our feet, the Light to our path, the Love of our lives, the clean wind that blows through our souls.

Rejoice that He has drawn you to Himself with love. Rejoice that He has unveiled the truth before your eyes. Rejoice that He has purged your life from evil and forgiven your sins. Rejoice that through Christ you are bearing His image.
